Guelph does things properly: a great university, strong agriculture, and families with deep roots. Professors and farmers do not have much in common except this: they both deserve honest financial guidance with no sales pitch. I work with Guelph families virtually: plain English, every conversation free.
Serving Guelph, Fergus, Rockwood, and Wellington County by phone and video.
Guelph's nickname is the Royal City, and its character is a particular blend: the University of Guelph with its famous agriculture and veterinary colleges, manufacturers headquartered here that ship to the whole world, a downtown built around the Speed River and the Basilica on the hill, and farm families at the city's edge whose knowledge of seasons and cycles puts most investors to shame. Professors, farmers, engineers, and plant workers do not agree on everything, but they agree on this: they can tell when someone is selling them something.
So let me be direct about the model. I am a broker, which means I work across insurers rather than for one of them, and my first conversations are free and educational on purpose: a Guelph family should understand its own plan before it is asked to change anything. The questions here tend to be excellent ones. University families ask about coordinating two strong pension or benefits packages without duplication. Farm families ask about succession and fairness between the child who farms and the children who do not, which is one of the hardest and most important conversations in rural finance. Manufacturing families ask about protection that fits shift work and overtime realities.
Disability planning has deep roots in this community too: the university's research community and the area's strong parent networks mean Guelph families often arrive already knowing the words Disability Tax Credit and RDSP, and wanting the details done right. Details are what I do, by phone and video from Carleton Place, with the reasoning always shown.
A broker works for you, not for one insurance company. That means choice across insurers, advice shaped around your life instead of a product shelf, and someone in your corner at claim time, when it matters most. Read the full broker vs agent breakdown.

That is the classic farm succession problem, and it has real solutions: life insurance used deliberately to equalize inheritances, clear wills that say the quiet parts out loud, and a plan built while there is time to choose. It starts with a family conversation, free and unhurried, and it is far easier at your kitchen table now than in a lawyer's office later.
Usually the coordination: two good plans can still duplicate coverage, miss the disability side entirely, and leave the estate side untouched. We map both packages, find the overlaps and the holes, and fix only what is genuinely missing. If everything already works, a Guelph family will appreciate hearing exactly that, with the evidence.
With the Disability Tax Credit, then the plan itself. The Disability Tax Credit checker and RDSP checker are free and take minutes, and the RDSP conversation is this practice's specialty: grants, bonds, catch-up years, and how the plan behaves across your child's whole life. Book a free conversation when you are ready for the full picture.
Most conversations happen by phone or video, which is how I serve families across Canada. In-person meetings can be arranged when I am in the area.
