Sudbury is nickel country: miners, tradespeople, and bilingual families who built real wealth underground. Blue-collar paycheques, union benefits to supplement, and retirement planning that has to be tough. I help Sudbury families protect the paycheque and make it last.
Serving Greater Sudbury and the Greater Sudbury area by phone and video.
Greater Sudbury is the North's big city: a mining centre where nickel built the economy and the mines still anchor thousands of jobs, wrapped around more lakes than any city has a right to. Health Sciences North makes it the healthcare hub for the whole northeast, Laurentian University adds a research and student community, and the Franco-Ontarian culture here is not a garnish, it is a foundation: this is one of the most bilingual cities in Ontario, and families switch languages mid-sentence without noticing. Mining families, hospital families, campus families, and camp families, often all in the same household.
Mining money has a shape planners need to respect: strong paycheques, real physical risk, shift rotations, and pensions that reward long service. The planning that matters is protection that understands underground work, honest reading of what mine benefits cover, and retirement timing that accounts for bodies that have done hard labour for decades. Regional centre life adds another wrinkle: Sudbury families routinely help relatives in smaller northern communities, and money flows outward to family in ways a Toronto plan never imagines.
For disability planning, Sudbury families face the northern version of the usual problem: specialist care means travel, sometimes to Toronto, and the financial programs that help are federal and identical here, the Disability Tax Credit and the RDSP, but awareness is thinner on the ground. I serve Sudbury entirely by phone and video from Carleton Place, which suits a city where half of life already happens across distances, and every conversation is free.
A broker works for you, not for one insurance company. That means choice across insurers, advice shaped around your life instead of a product shelf, and someone in your corner at claim time, when it matters most. Read the full broker vs agent breakdown.
Step one: book a free conversation below. Thirty minutes, zero pressure. Step two: we talk through your situation in plain English until you actually understand your options. Step three: you decide, with facts instead of salesmanship.
It changes the conversation, not whether you can be covered. Insurers price risk by occupation, so mining work deserves an honest broker who shops across companies rather than handing you one quote. We look at your mine benefits first, then fill only the real gaps, with the numbers explained plainly before you decide anything.
Our conversations happen in English, and many Sudbury families move between the two languages at home. The written material on this site is available in French for the key disability pages, and I will always slow down and explain anything until it is fully clear. What I will not do is pretend a fluency I do not have. Honesty is the whole brand here.
The same as anywhere: the Disability Tax Credit. Run the free Disability Tax Credit checker and the RDSP checker to see where your family stands, then book a free conversation. Northern families leave grant and bond money unclaimed every year simply because nobody local brought it up. Consider it brought up.
Most conversations happen by phone or video, which is how I serve families across Canada. In-person meetings can be arranged when I am in the area.
Yes. You don't have to figure this out alone. I'm here to help you through every step.
Nothing. Bring your questions and an open mind. If it helps, jot down what keeps you up at night about money, we will start there.
